Members:
Elaine J. Lessig, President Janet York
Karen Mills Heron, Vice President
Kuno Spies, Treasurer
Courtney P. Carter, Secretary
Guests:
Laura Glynn
The meeting was called to order by the President at 2:20 p.m.
Karen Heron made a motion to accept the minutes from the January 6, 2019 meeting with the noted corrections. Janet York seconded the motion. The motion carried.
The Treasurer reported that we made a small profit on the February Specialties in New York and that we have a current balance of $21,950 in the bank.
Elaine Lessig reported that the Health Clinic in January was not as successful as we had hoped it would be due to the fact that the cardiologists placed too many restrictions on what dogs they were willing to exam. It was suggested that we may not hold the clinic in January of 2020 due to these restrictions.
There was a discussion about our arrangement with NYMS for the Specialty in February 2020. We will only have a one day Specialty at NYMS because we are already committed to holding a Specialty at the Morris & Essex Kennel Club show in October of 2020. NYMS has offered the Club the option of paying $300 in order to hold our right to hold two Specialties in New York at NYMS in February 2021. A motion was made and the motion carried to accept this offer.
We will support the entry of Cavaliers at the Hunterdon Hills Kennel Club shows in August 2019 at the 4H fairgrounds in Ringoes, NJ. At the Sunday show we will hold our Annual General Meeting.
We will support the entry of Cavaliers at the Tuxedo Park Kennel Club, the Somerset Hills Kennel Club, and the Westchester Kennel Club shows in September 2019 at North Branch Park in Bridgewater, NJ.
Finally we will support the entry of Cavaliers at both of the Delaware Water Gap Kennel Club shows and the Lehigh Valley Kennel Club show in December 2019 at the Fairgrounds in Allentown, PA.
Erica And Rachel Venier have won the Asa Mays Memorial Trophy for Best Opposite Sex three times and therefore it has been won outright by them. They, in turn, have donated the trophy to the Club. A thank you letter will be sent to them and it will be noted that they have donated the trophy to the Club.
Also, Karen Heron mentioned that Erica Venier has offered to reimburse the Club for the cost of an exam table drape with the Club logo on it. Elaine Lessig will find a person who makes such an item and an order will be placed.
Laura Glynn, who was attending the meeting as a guest, was welcomed by the President and asked to introduce herself.
The Club had received a request to support the New Jersey State 4H show with a monetary donation. Janet York made a motion to donate $50.00. Karen Heron seconded the motion. The motion carried.
Elaine Lessig announced the Nominating Committee with Karen Kaufhold as chair and Brenda LaRoza and Marvin Lessig as members of the Committee. The positions open are Vice President, Treasurer, and 2 Directors currently held by Kelli Marshall and Debbi Silverman.
A motion to adjourn was made a 2:54 p.m.
Respectfully submitted,
Courtney P. Carter, Secretary
